Unknown chloros

Sep 01, 2006 11:07 PM | 0
I like to consider myself a fairly intelligent human being, but I have done some pretty dumb things. One thing I regret doing is erasing all my comic scan sources. In other words I have no idea where some of my scans came from because I never saved that information down. So now when I want to index scans it becomes kind of hard. It's kind of embarassing doing this, but I am making a section of my site called "unknown chloros". Basically if you know where the scan came from, just drop me an email so I can index the scene. Simple as that.

Oh yeah, does anyone out there have the chloroform scene from Vampirella #71? It's the one where Vampi goes to hollywood. Yeah for some reason I never saved that scene to my hard disk. Someone has to have that scene (because it was Ethernet I believe) and I just want to see it again. Maybe if I offer a reward there will be an incentive to send me that scan. Whoever sends me the scan can get a free G-mail account. Deal or no deal?

So if you goto the Sleeping Gas page you will see that I added a quote of the day. Basically, everyday you will see a different quote from a comic dealing with sleeping gas. Some are freaking hilarious because they sound so weird when taken out of context. I just thought that would be a fun addition to the site. I might do the same with the chloro page.

Avengers v1 #42 - Black Widow

Sep 02, 2006 08:09 PM | 0
Nice scan from Avengers #42 of the Black Widow (in her old costume, very nice) getting a dose of sleeping gas. The dialogue is the best: "room filling with some sort of gas! Putting me to sleep." Man I wish we were still living in the 60's, those were the days weren't they? One thing I noticed while flipping through comics was that 40 years ago, they had a ton of ads for coin collectors. Like there would be ads for Mercury dimes, pennies, silver halves. There was a real market for coin collecting a long time ago. People were once genuinely interested in that stuff. Today all our ads are about video games and movies. But man, imagine seeing an ad for a Franklin Half.
Interesting scan of Captain Marvel being KEPT asleep using gas. There's a difference. These kinds of scenes are okay. My favorite "kept asleep by gas" scene is from Avengers #195. That's the one where a glass box is placed over the Wasp's head and sleeping gas is continuously pumped in to her.

Update 9/2/2006

Sep 02, 2006 08:17 PM | 0

Yes, someone finally posted the Vampirella #71 chloroforming (will the real Mr. X please standup, please standup?).

Yes, someone finally posted the chloroforming (will the real Mr. X please standup, please standup?).Ummm, yeah Savage She-Hulk #12, only the second time Jen Walters is "chloroformed" per se. I prefer the standard cloth over mouth but a whole bag? That's deep man. Wonder Woman also got the "bag" treatment once.

Cage #4, Dakota North. Nice scene; good sleepy shots. Nice cradle carries. Good dialogue. But where's the fucking chloroform? It's only subtly hinted at. Her full body suit is hot though, definitely very Black Widow-esque.

So I have indexed all these scenes as well as those Golden Age Sandman scenes project x posted a while ago.

Time for some site statistics. When I first announced the existence of sleepycomics.com, the site recieved 391 unique visits. For me, that's a lot (compare that to when I first announced pleaserelax.tripod.com, I had something like 195 uniques). Yesterday I had 83 returning visits, not bad not bad. My Photobucket account is absorbing all the bandwith of my site. I have nearly 60,000 hits this month for pictures, transferring over 5.31 GB of data. I am only allowed 10 GB of bandwith.

I host my clips on a different server. In August alone I used 1.92 GB of bandwith (and the site wasn't up for the entire month). It's only the second day of September and already almost 300 MB of bandwith was used up. The most popular file was the Hana Yori Dango live chloro. I'm going to start posting more clips once I have time.

I added two clips. One from Seisouhen (chloroform) and one from TMNT (dart). I didn't make the TMNT one, so credit goes to the original capturer.

Captain America v1 #103 - Sharon Carter

Sep 03, 2006 12:50 PM | 0
Thanks to a user on the Chloroforum who alerted me about this chloroform scene from Captain America #103. The damsel is Sharon Carter. I added it to the database.

It's not the greatest scene in the world, but just the fact that it exists is exciting. There could still be tons of scenes we just don't know about. If anyone remembers seeing a gas or chloroform scene in a comic, but they don't know what issue it came from, just give me as many details as possible. I will try to track down that scene and index it. This is what I live to do.

The badgirlkos.com webmaster posted this AWESOME chloroform scene from Samuree #8. I got two new scenes in one day. Project X then posted this sweet gassing scene from Scooby Doo and the Curse of the Mummy. I honestly never heard of Daphne blake getting gassed before. It just totally blew my mind away. Man, I can't wait for tomorrow. Who knows what the chloro God will bring?

Rurouni Kenshin vol 24 - Kamiya Kaoru

Sep 04, 2006 10:48 AM | 1
Hard to believe that even in Meiji Japan they used chloroform, or a drugged soaked cloth. It's an alright scene, exemplified by the fact that they show the cloth in Enishi's hand in retrospect.

This scene is featured in the Rurouni Kenshin OAV Seisouhen (I have a clip of it on my clips page). I lifted the scans from Spectrum Nexus. The interesting thing is that Seisouhen had two chloros of Kaoru. I do not know if the first chloro was in the manga. Here is an interesting story on how I came across this complete scene. I had the first scan for a really really long time (Feburary 2005). The problem is I never recorded which volume the scan came from. Recently I wanted to figure that out for indexing purposes but it was hopeless. I went on Spectrum Nexus and I was flooded with a sea of scans. I looked into volume 24 and just randomly clicked on a scan. That scan just happened to have the panel where Enishi is holding a cloth in his hand (the third scan above). I was SO LUCKY! It was totally random and yet I found the scene. And then I found Captain America #103 and icon7 posted a chloro from Samuree #8. I was about to have a freaking heart attack!!!!

Scenes I recently indexed for chloroform were Captain America #103, Lois Lane #61 (updated that one), Lois Lane #84 (check out that hilarious scene where Lois chloroforms Superman) and of course Samuree #8 (icon7 you are a God).

For sleeping gas I indexed a scene from Detective Comics #404, damsel is Batgirl. Check it out.

I read the online news this morning and I was struck by some pretty sad news: Steve Irwin the 'Crocodile Hunter' was killed while on a dive. He was struck in the heart by a sting ray. For once I genuinely felt sadness because Steve was such a good person. He loved animals and he made the world love them. I can't believe that we will never hear the words "Crikey!" ever again. Rest in peace Steve.

Amazing Fantasy #8 - Scorpion

Sep 05, 2006 09:33 AM | 0

Time for another update! You see I pretty much update this site everyday because I have nothing better to do!

Today's feature scene is from Amazing Fantasy #8 and the damsel is a heroine called Scorpion. The KO method is injection.

For an injection it's pretty damn good. She starts to get woozy as the CURARE (a very deadly poison I believe) takes effect. But somehow it only knocks her out for a while. There is a wake up scene.

I indexed a handful of scenes to the "other" database (the database I sort of don't care about, except for the injection and dart scenes). Seriously, if I had to index EVERY SINGLE electric, drugged drink, head KO, faint, hypnotic scene, I would have my work cut out for me. I'm going to try to put my focus on anesthetics. But if I do find a head KO or ZAP that's really good, I'll still index it. But right now all I care about is seeing heroines get high.

So here is what I indexed:

Amazing Spiderman #147

Amazing Spiderman #426

Aquaman 28

Atom #1

Avengers v1 #40

Azrael Annual 3

Batman #333.

In "chloros" I added those Superman comic strips project x posted a while back.

I am starting to flip through West Coast Avengers. This comic looks like it has potential for some great finds. West Coast #36 already turned up a Scarlet Witch gassing.

Spiderman S3E14 - Mary Jane

Sep 06, 2006 11:00 PM | 1

So this is a screenshot of a clip I recently posted in the clips page. It's from Spiderman TAS episode 3.14 (at least that's how I remember it, I may be wrong). But yeah I remember this clip was requested a while ago but I just never got around to posting it. Oh well, here it is. Although the scene where Mary Jane is gassed is very short, the subsequent sleepy shots are very nice. She is pretty much drugged from the gas for the whole clip. Her grogginess even causes her to almost fall off a building, but you know, Spiderman saves the day.

Ok, here is what amazes me. I have used 65% of my photobucket monthly bandwith limit. There's still like 6 more days until the monthly period is over (the 12th). 83,400 direct links have been made to the scans since August 12th. On average I get over 1,000 page loads per day. Returning visits have been as high as 114 per day. I'm impressed by these numbers. You guys are probably sick of me bragging about my stats and I will probably not care in a few weeks.

I'm going to add a new link to my site, http://www.geocities.jp/penchan_2002/tobira.html, because I think it's useful. Even though the site is in Japanese, they have anime and manga databases that can be translated. I used to have a hard time finding this site because I never wrote down the link and I never bookmarked it.

Femforce #48

Sep 07, 2006 04:29 PM | 0
Here is an interesting chloroforming from an issue of Femforce (#48). I prefer for the hand to be physically over the mouth. This method of chloroforming someone is just weird.

I also indexed a M/M chloro from Kindaichi Case files. It's alright, not my thing but I found it and I was happy with my find.

My homey icon7 always turns up great finds. Shadow State #2, Monkeyman & O' Brien have been indexed along with an F/M scene from Marvel Team-up #36 (cuz some people like that as well). I

've been really busy lately, but the updates will keep coming. I have indexed 344 scenes so far.

Ok so I just installed Firefox web browser on my PC and when I tried looking at my site everything was fucked up. I know some people use Firefox, so I just want to ask if the site looks alright to you. Because the site didn't look alright to me. It looked messed up and I can't figure out what Firefox is doing differently. My site looks perfect in IE. I don't know, I'm new to this whole Firefox deal. Basically Javascript and CSS are all messed up.

Teen Titans v1 #24

Sep 08, 2006 05:12 PM | 0
So a nice member of the community (leonsls) alerted me to this "almost good" chloroform scene from Teen Titans v1 #24. Man you can tell the writers could have made this a really good scene but blew it. All we see is the soaking of the rag and then the Teen Titans are unconscious. Of course Wonder Girl is among them, that is the most important part.

Terry and the Pirates - Willow Belinda

Sep 09, 2006 04:39 PM | 0
A while back, Caeribormeith posted a chloroform comic scan on his site. It was really low quality but from that scan I was able to determine what comic series it came from. Turns out it was from Terry and the Pirates and the damsel is Willow Belinda. Today I found a larger scan.

That should be a lot better. I went to the downtown library and they had a HUGE graphic novel section. Like I could seriously spend and entire afternoon just pouring over random comics. I found a Terry and the Pirates anthology and made the above scan. Oh, and here is something even more interesting: the anthology has 10 volumes. I randomly selected the 10th volume and VOILA, there was the scene. It's like I am attracted to these sleepy scenes or something.

Peach Girl drugging controversy

Sep 10, 2006 09:47 AM | 1

A while back, there was a news article in Orange County Florida about a parents discovering "adult-themed" manga their daughter checked out. The manga was called "Peach Girl" and it had material about drugging and raping girls. Here is the original article for you all to read. If that link doesn't work anymore, here is the original article reprinted here:

Adult-Themed Comics At Library Shock Parents

Parents of a girl in Orange County, Fla., were shocked to discover that a comic book featuring adult-themed topics, like swinging and drugged and raped girls, was checked out by the 11-year-old at a library, according to a Local 6 News report. The controversial Japanese comic book is part of a series that can be found in the young adult collection at the Orange County Library's Southeast Branch.

Local 6 News reported that the comic titled "Peach Girl" is about a young girl drugged by her friends and then set up to be raped. As I was going through it, I said, 'Oh my God, do parents know what their kids are reading?'" mother Raynelle White said. One of the comics found by Problem Solver Nancy Alvarez featured parents who swap spouses. "That's swinging and this is a girl no older than my daughter," parent Travis White said.

"Sex, drugs and violence are the themes in this series published by TokyoPop," Alvarez said. White believes no one looked past the cover of the comic and it is time that things changed at the library. "I don't want to see it; I don't want her seeing it," Travis White said. "The whole time, I'm like, 'I can't believe we're seeing these things.'"

A spokeswoman for Orange County Libraries would not speak on camera but admitted there is not a screening process in place for books bound for the children's or young adult sections, Alvarez said. The same comics are also available at the main branch in downtown Orlando. A spokeswoman said it would be impossible to review all of the books the library receives at its locations. However, if it receives complaints, it will do its own review. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

Awesome, so I went out looking for that volume and it turns out my library had it, LOL. Here is part of what I found (the rest is in the database):

Relax parents, it's only a harmless drugged drink scene. Would you rather your daughter be reading "Sin City"? Now that shit is messed up. Peach Girl is not even close to mature themed. The whole thing is just taken out of context.

In other news, my photobucket account registered over 108,000 direct links to my scans. Okay, it hasn't been 30 days yet but lets say it was. That means there is an average of 3,600 clicks per day, 150 per hour, and 5 clicks every two minutes.

It's one of those scenes where you say "damn, why couldn't that happen to a girl?".

Ok stuff I recently indexed: Peach Girl, Amazing Spiderman #237 and #026.
Aquaman #019, Alpha Flight #42, Catwoman #37. Yeah and those Champions, Batman & the outsiders scenes icon7 found. Mandrake the Magician #15. I also unleashed a video clip from Kara Kage Mamoru ep 12. The original screen shots can be found on LoZ's site. His site was my source.
I really can't get enough of this stuff can I?

Huge ass update (80 new scenes)

Sep 11, 2006 08:43 AM | 0
Goto the "other" database. I just indexed a whole bunch of project x scans, unleashed a whole bunch of scans. I am not even going to bother listing in my blog what I added. Basically I indexed 40 scenes, so get them while you still can. I think this is how I will do my updates from now until I have nothing left. There are drugged drink, head KO, dart and injections scenes.

In the gas database I uploaded another 40 scenes to make the total update 80 scenes. That's 40 scenes that involve sleeping gas in one form or another. You should be in heaven right now. This is the biggest update since the site began. You have a limited amount of time to see what's new before I remove the "unleashed" labels so get them while they're hot.

2 more chloros

Sep 12, 2006 09:15 PM | 2
A cool member contributed two new chloro scenes to the database. A nice one from Flash Gordon #1 (1995) and one from Sweet Gwendoline. So that brings the total chloro count to 102. Man, I find it hard to believe that of all the millions of comics and manga ever published I only catalogued 102 scenes. We gotta start looking harder people!

Comics tend to get overlooked in the sleepy community. People generally focus more on movies and TV. But recently there was a surge in comics popularity, probably because people realized the potential they offered. I mean there is so much uncharted territory. I'm finding stuff almost everyday now.

Another big update (44 new scenes)

Sep 14, 2006 10:13 AM | 0
Added 44 new gas scenes to the database, starting with Marvel Super Heroes Summer Special #2.

As more and more scenes get added, you noticed some interesting things. For one, it seems as if Wonder Woman has more KOs than any other damsel. Lois Lane, She-Hulk and Sue Storm are also up there in the KO count.

Remember, my lists are sortable. Just click the word "sleeper" to show the list sorted by sleeper. Click "issue" to sort the list by the comic issue. Simple.

Action Comics #438

Thanks for alerting me to this great gas scene in Action 438:
The rest of the scene is in the database. That brings the total update to 45 new gas scenes. A total of 485 scenes have been indexed.

Lois Lane comics are awesome

Sep 15, 2006 05:44 PM | 0
I went through all 137 issues of Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane. Man it is one great comic for KO scenes, especially for sleeping gas and chloroform. Lois Lane was chloroformed twice, and Lois Lane personally chloroformed 3 people (including Superman, lol). Then there are the gas scenes. Man there was just so many. This is one of my favorites.

I updated the database with 13 more gas scenes from SMGFLL.

So yeah, I have almost 500 scenes in my list. Many of them were found by other people and I generally try to credit them if I remember (it's in a screentip). What I would like to do very soon is maybe compiling a rough list of the comics we have all gone through. I know I have looked through everything in Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane, Teen Titans v1, Super Friends, Young Avengers, Academy X, Emma Frost, West Coast Avengers, Cloak and Dagger. There might be more.

I get a surprise everyday.

Justice League gas scene

Sep 16, 2006 09:53 AM | 2
From the Justice League pilot called "Secret Origins", there were like 3 gas scenes, two involving the Justice League. The other one involved aliens, which we do not want to see. There are two scenes involving Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman (with major putz factor).

I just remember seeing this on TV and thought it was pretty cool. You can goto the clips page and download it.

City Hunter - Secret Service

Sep 18, 2006 10:52 AM | 2
The Anime City Hunter had several good chloroform scenes, one of which I just posted. It's an alright scene. The chloro is followed by a lot of sleepy shots which is always good. At the end, the lady regains consciousness, only to lose it again. I give it *** stars.

I also put up a sleeping gas scene from Justice League, episode 'War World p2'. I like this scene a lot because it's like what the third time Hawkgirl is gassed. Plus she puts up a good struggle before the sleeping gas knocks her out, managing to smash the glass panel a little.

I hope you are not having any problems downloading the video clips. Supposedly I get unlimited bandwith and the downloads should be blazing fast.

Superboy Legion 241 - Lightning Lass

Sep 20, 2006 11:21 PM | 2
Wow, a surprise chloroforming from Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes #241. Thanks leonsls for alerting me to this scene. Pretty good, much better than I expected. The scene is a little dark and fuzzy. Judge it for yourself:

Chloros are rare but they still show up occasionally. I am always open to scene alerts. I almost never read comics so you guys definitely know more than me.

I haven't done any major indexing lately to give people a chance to appreciate all the new scenes I unleashed. Oh man I don't know what else to talk about.

Oh yeah, I really hate it when other people want to use my laptop. I never allow anyone to use my laptop. I have so much of this crap on my hard disk that it's difficult to conceal. Like I used to clear my history every time I visited slumberville, but now I just get too lazy. Today someone wanted to use my laptop to print something out. He gave me a flash drive and just stood right next to me watching my laptop screen. I opened up explorer and there was "sleepy comics" as an FTP drive. I quickly changed the folder though, so it's all good. I feel so uncomfortable when other people are around my PC because I am afraid they will find this shit out. I must be paranoid.

I am watching a lot of House MD. I started with season one and I'm working my way up. It's a great show.

New database format

Sep 21, 2006 03:40 PM | 0
I just redesigned the database. Now you can sort anything you want in any order (requires javascript). The only downside is that if you refresh the database, it goes back to its default state. I realized this can be a bit annoying. So I decided to make all the scans open in new windows.

Also with my new system, the file sizes for the databases are much smaller. They used to be several hundred kilobytes and the reason was that I used MS word to create the tables. MS Word adds so much styling you don't need to the HTML file. So I just went through the HTML file and deleted all the junk I didn't need. The files are A LOT smaller now so they will load faster.

In my old system (and I am kind of embarrassed to admit this) I had two HTML files: one sorted by issue and one sorted by sleeper. So it took double the space to provide sortable lists. Now I have made it more efficient. All the sorting takes place on the client-side, so you need javascript. I tested it in FireFox and it works alright.

I hope you guys like the modifications I made!

The sleeping gas database has been updated with several gassings from JLA and some other goodies.

Shanna the She Devil #4

Sep 22, 2006 03:18 PM | 0
I updated the misc. database with 24 new scenes. Here's my favorite of the lot:

Shanna is knocked out with a tranquilizer dart. It has all the elements that make a dart scene good. I don't seem to have that many dart scenes, they tend to be rare. Maybe it's because I don't look for them hard enough.

Remember, the newest scenes I added to the database are highlighted somehow. My newest method is highlighting the entire row to make it easier to spot.

In other news, the City Hunter Secret Service chloroforming I posted has been downloaded over 1,100 times. That corresponds to about 4.8 gigs of data transfer and I uploaded this file like 4 days ago.

My Lucky Day: Avengers v3 #21 - Firestar

Sep 24, 2006 05:44 PM | 4
So I went to the library, RANDOMLY picked up a graphic novel, RANDOMLY flipped to a page and look what I found:

How lucky is that? That was the best scene I found that day too. Unbelieveable how much luck I have. It's like I am attracted to these scenes.

I updated the gas database with 9 more scenes, 6 of which have been posted on the chloroforum before. There's a She-Hulk scene and a Spider-woman scene. Check it out.

Detective Conan vol. 30 - Ran Mouri

Oct 01, 2006 12:21 AM | 0
These past few days have been fruitful. I saw a new City Hunter chloro and a Detective Conan chloro. Oh man it just can't get any better!

I definitely have to thank the person (Moryomaru) for alerting me to the Ran scene. That was a big surprise. The scans were lifted from here. I also unleashed a scan of Conan himself getting chloroformed. The same thing happens in the anime. Detective Conan is undoubtedly THE MANGA to look for KO scenes.

I also did some research on potential scene finds. The scenes listed as "Still Looking" in the database means I am 99% sure there is a scene in that comic, I just can't find it. Like I know D.N. Angel vol 6 has a gas scene in it. I would like to know if anyone finds one of those scenes labelled "still looking".
