In a flashback, the villain called The Hypnotist puts Zatanna and Bruce Wayne into a trance so he can steal an amulet that enhances his hypnotic powers. Zatanna stays hypnotized for a while until Zatara wakes her up.

The Hypnotist returns years later and hypnotizes Zatanna and her audience to think that Batman is evil and then makes Zatanna follow him to his hideout where he wakes her up.

After giving Zatanna more commands The Hypnotist puts her under again so she can't attack him. Zatanna stays hypnotized while The Hypnotist fights Batman.

Batman throws The Hypnotist's amulet to Zatanna and she makes it disappear, causing her to wake up from hypnosis.
