Close Call

Watch this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAGmTU_Wjg8 and TELL ME this shouldn't have been a chloroforming. When I first saw it I was SO EXCITED. But she never fell asleep. God life can be so cruel. It had all the elements of a good chloroforming. It's a good DID scene though.

Gen 13, plus massive update

Dec 02, 2006 06:03 PM | 0
I just recieved this incredible gas scene from Lost One Zero. It's from a Gen 13 Science Fiction special. It has all the elements of a great gassing, with sleepy shots and everything. Plus, I think this is the only scene of Caitlin Fairchild getting gassed. Look in the database for the rest of the scene. Thanks again LoZ!I haven't made a huge update in a while. I was up till 4:00 AM last night playing Civilization III, so I obviously have plenty of time. I added 37 scenes to the "other" database and a few scenes to the sleeping gas list.
I just realized, head knockouts are very sexy. This is especially true if the sleeper is Black Canary. She's been knocked out so many times, I'm kind of worried if she'll get head trauma.

You should sign up for the AVGDID message board. Someone just posted original art of a girl getting chloroformed. It was really good. I might try to get that art posted on my site.

Oh and one more update. It's like 2:43 AM right now but I'm excited to report another find. From Union Jack #3, there is a scene where a woman is knocked out with sleeping gas. It's in the database. The source was Uncannyxmen.com.

Life is amazing

Ok I got the rights for some new original art. For those who don't frequent AVGDID, you can see it in the original art page. It's the one where Jeri Katou is chloroformed. Even though it's just a sketch, I think it's worth posting.

I talked with the artist online. Me and him share similar tastes, and he even knows about the Chloroforum! He also offered to draw something for me, how awesome is that!!? He was just like, "so what kind of girls do you like?" I can't wait for it to be done. He definitely has incredible talent.

700+ scenes indexed!

Dec 12, 2006 01:41 AM | 2
With my most recent update, I have surpassed the 700 scene mark. All three databases have been updated.

My goal is to one day get 1,000 scenes indexed. Sleeping gas still constitutes the majority of my database, with 344 scenes.  That's a shitload of sleeping gas comic writers have used over the years. I think every major superheroine has been gassed at least once; it's almost like a pre-requisite before you can be considered a heroine. Flowers tend to be a very popular medium to store sleeping gas, like in the new Red Sonja scans I recieved. She sniffs the sweet scent of the flower only to get drugged in the process. Hell, Creamy Mami was chloroformed with a flower, that's how amazing flowers are!

So guess what class I am taking next semester? I am taking a class on comic book symbolism. This is going to be fun as hell. I can't wait to hear what the teacher has to say about Wonder Woman and how she was always in distress.  Kids back in the 1940's were exposed to a ton of bondage. I would be very surprised if our class never mentioned bondage once, it is like so prevalant in comics. I think if a comic book didn't have bondage, it wouldn't be interesting at all. It just isn't fun if the heroine is never in danger. Anyway, I cannot wait for this class to start. I'm going to do my thesis on "How bondage actually empowers heroines". Or not.

I was watching some improvisation comedy last night, and in one of the sketches a girl mentioned "nitrous oxide". The sketch ended right there, which sucked because I was interested in seeing what would come next. Oh well, she wasn't that hot anyway.

Okay, so in my links section is a blog called "Chlorokid's blog". It's a Japanese blog that is basically the same thing as my blog, only it doesn't have the amazing scene database. Almost every image on his blog has been lifted off my site. I'm not that mad because this site is in Japanese so it targets a different audience, but damn, it is pretty much my site in Japanese. He has a nice BBS system that seems to have good discussion. And I also saw a few new manga scans.

I think this site could use some more discussion. The one entry that generated the most comments was the one where I blasted Bush. I had to like close the comments for that entry, it was getting that nasty. Speaking of President Bush, are we still in Iraq? Damn, someone needs to chloroform this entire administration and get some people who can actually do a good job.

I was chatting with my friend the artist about my commission. Turns out he hasn't started it yet (figures). I will be so happy when he finishes it.

Devi #2 - Plus some statistics

Dec 16, 2006 12:55 AM | 0
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingDo you guys see that image? I'll give you a minute to soak it all in, celebrate a little. This scene right here single handedly made my day. The damsel is a girl named Tara, who is actually a reincarnated goddess named Devi (at least that's what I think, I don't actually read these comics). Yeah, she's pretty fucking hot. Considering I have been looking at scenes of some dude getting chloroformed and guys getting gassed, this was such a good sight for my eyes. What I love is how the cloth is placed perfectly over her nose and mouth, so her sleepy eyes are still visible. Devi basically sleeps for the next 3 issues. If you really want to see all of her sleepy shots just ask and I'll make you a collage. I included some good ones in the database.

You might be wondering how much effort it took to find this remarkable scene. I basically had to look through 5 DCP packs (about 200 comics), and it was still a lucky find. In the past few days I have probably flipped through well over 400 comics. I found two chloroformings: one involving some dude (for those curious, it was in Atom Special #1), and one involving the very sexy Devi. I found a handful of gassings, two from the DCP packs. Both of the DCP finds involved guys, although one was a F/M KO. I found a really nice tranquilizer dart KO from Young Avengers Runaways #3 (it's already in the database, so check it out!).

Oh and did I mention that a very nice person sent me some Red Sonja KOs? Yeah, they're also in the database.

Here is a basic rundown of what I went through:

On Thursday (after coming back from failing my economics final) I went through all 73 issues of "The Atom", and issues 126-200 of "World's Finest Comics". World's Finest sucks for KOs; they barely have any female characters. I then went through 75 issues of "Generation X" and 5 DCP packs. Earlier, I had gone through issues 1-206 of JLA. And after all that I found one female chloroform scene. I...have...no...fucking...life.

Flash Comics #30 - Hawkgirl; Plus a Nancy Drew chloro!

Dec 17, 2006 01:17 PM | 5
Photobucket - Video and Image HostingI updated the chloroform database with yet another great find. I was flipping through some random issues of Flash Comics (the 1942 series). Older comics generally have more DID, but the scenes usually span one or two panels and are not very interesting by today's standards. So I was very surprised when I saw a picture of Hawkgirl with a cloth over her mouth. I though, "oh wow, some guy is probably gagging her." But then I saw the word "chloro-form" and I was jumping with joy. There were even sleepy shots! It was a great way to start off my day.

I also found a chloro from "Just Imagine Stan Lee's Shazam!". Most of you have probably seen this chloro before. I updated the information and uploaded a slightly newer scan.

And then there are those pesky M/M chloros that I found. I added them to the database because I know there are people out there who like that stuff. I don't go out looking for M/M's, but if I see it I'll save it. Chloroform scenes are very rare in comics and when you do find a chloro, there is a 50% chance it will involve a female. That's how I see it anyway.

Here's a little update. I found out last night about a Nancy Drew graphic novel, and that in one of the issues there was a scene where she was chloroformed. I decided to hunt for the novel at my library. They had one copy and guess what? It was the correct volume; man I am one lucky son of a bitch! The scene wasn't bad. It would have been nice to see her eyes a little while the cloth was being applied. There's a good wakeup scene too. So we have three chloros in the last three days. Life fucking rules.

A little PHP update

Dec 20, 2006 06:14 PM | 4
I messed around with a little PHP recently when I found out just how amazing it was. So I decided to redesign all my pages in PHP. It's not really that much different. The only thing useful is that I can make page templates so much easier so all my pages look the same.

Some changes I made include getting rid of those button links because they looked like crap. There are now text links on the top of every page. The scene lists are no longer in seperate frames. I found frames to be very annoying. So yeah, hope you like my changes. I think the new site looks pretty good.

I added a few scenes to the unknown database, including a few I lifted off Chlorokid's blog. I've got some good scenes ready for the next big update.

Holiday Update

Dec 22, 2006 05:52 PM | 0
I won't waste anyone's time so I'll just point out the updates explicitly:
Sleeping Gas - 20 new scenes
Other - 32 new scenes
New original art generously donated from Lost One Zero.
Some new stuff in the unknowns page.
And if you didn't see it yet, I have a new page with Diabolik scans and a page of screenshots.
I also uploaded a new video clip a few days ago from Erementar Gerad.
So yeah, a lot of stuff to keep you busy for the holidays. I know I'll be staring at that art by LoZ. It's just so incredibly good.

I changed the site layout quite a bit. You might have noticed that the logo just randomly changed. I like the mess around with the site layout until I get it perfect. I'm a guy who thinks subtleties are important!

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingOne scene I really liked was Cammy's dart KO from Street Fighter #12. I saw scans posted on the beauties sleeping Yahoo group (isn't it amazing that group is still up?). The scans were kind of small though, so I had to do a ton of research to find bigger scans. The larger scans are sooooo much better. I like this scene because the tranquilizer doesn't work instantaneously on Cammy. It just sort of slowly puts her to sleep. The artist also drew Cammy really cute which is a big plus. So yeah, that was today's feature scene.

I've been going through lots of comics. I'm confident that I looked through every issue of Generation X. Only one gas scene in that entire series. My biggest surprise came from The Power of Shazam series. It had 5 gas KO's, 2 which directly involved females. 1 was a group KO and the other two involved stupid guys. It was one of my more successful comic packs.

Recent DCP packs seem to turn up quite a few gas KO's. I found a gas scene in Street Fighter II #5 (it's actually F/(MF)). They're out there, so you just got to keep looking.

I'm playing this new game called Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Gamecube. It is a very well crafted video game. I haven't gotten very far, but I already saw a KO scene in one of the cutscenes (this could be a SPOILER). A cute girl from Link's village is shot with an arrow and falls unconscious. Then Link himself is smacked in the head by the enemy and he too falls unconscious. It was definitely a nice treat for me in an already deep game.

UPDATE 10:54 PM: Okay, many of you probably did not notice a big change, but I made a huge improvement in how the database works. I wrote a program in PHP to read the data from a text file and convert it to a table. It may not seem like a big deal, but I consider it a great advancement. To show you why, let me give you a history of how I've presented the database in the past:
Microsoft Word Table: I essentially created a table in Word and turned it into an HTML file. It was easy for me to sort, but in order for users to sort the table in the browser I had to make several databases, doubling the size. Total size: 962 KB (more when sorting).

HTML File: I got rid of all the unnecessary crap found in word files and made my database a basic table in HTML. I even found Javascript code allowing users to sort the table in their browser. Total size: 253 KB.

PHP Files: I used these for like two days. Basically the same as the HTML files, only the extension was changed to .PHP. Total size: 265 KB.

Text Files: I created these today. These will allow me to update the site much faster. My program even counts the exact number of scenes, and it basically shows that I cannot count by hand. Total size: 175 KB.
I was very happy when my code worked the very first time I tried it. It almost never works. My next step is to try setting up a MySQL database so that these scenes can actually be Queried. This is going to be a fun break!

I added 9 assorted video clips today. I hardly ever update that page. My favorite of the lot is the double KO from Detective Conan episode 182. First a woman is knocked out with one of Conan's darts. Then there is a flashback to a scene where a lady is chloroformed and kidnapped. Detective Conan is one of those shows that really delivers the goods.

I also moved all my "Still searching for.." clips to a seperate page.

Futaba-Kun Change vol. 4

Dec 25, 2006 03:42 PM | 3
I found another manga chloro scene just in time for Christmas. Consider this my gift to you all. The story behind how I found this scene is very interesting. For some reason, I just randomly decided to Google the phrase "sheena chloroform". I like Googling random words with "chloroform" just to see what would turn up. The first page that turned up was a manga scan site: http://fkc.futaba-chan.net/images/futabaimg.html. It had scans from a manga called Futaba-Kun Change. There was one scan that involved a nurse giving a girl a bottle of Chloroform. I didn't think much of it.
I scroll down the search results and find this site: http://www.ao.com/~kohler/fkc04pt6.html. It's a direct manga translation of Futaba-Kun Change volume 4 part 6. The translation was crude, but I found the words "chloroform" and references to waking up. I then went BACK to the manga scan page to look for more clues. I didn't find a chloro scene, but there was a scan of a girl named Misaki bound. So here is what I had so far:
1. A girl gets a bottle of chloroform. A scan proves this.
2. The direct manga translation hints at the possibility of a chloroforming.
3. Another scan shows a girl with her hands bound.
The pieces all added up. I was 99% certain that Futaba-Kun Change vol 4 would have a chloro scene in it. I did some searching and found a torrent. I was lucky, there were like 3 seeders. I got the manga on my hard drive in about 30 minutes. There it was, another chloroform scene added to my collection.

I added a lot of new scenes to the database. Right now, thanks to my new system, I can update the database very efficiently. I'm not going to announce every little update I make. Currently the database main page as a table which shows when each list was last updated. The date changes every time I alter something in the list, whether it's adding a new scene or just changing a rating. The newest scenes are generally always on top.

Well I have nothing else to say so I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

New Feature: Scene Alerts

Dec 27, 2006 08:42 PM | 3
There are some updates in the clips page and the database. I added a few chloro scenes to the database.

Okay, I recently flushed out my comic archives. Almost everything that I have found since around May of 2006 has been indexed. Just a few months ago searching for scenes was easy. All I had to do was Google the phrase "sleeping gas" and tons of results would turn up. Unfortunately, I cleaned out the internet faster than it can update itself. Basically what this means is that sleepy scenes are going to tougher to find. It's a reality that I can't hide from anymore. When I saw new manga scans posted by chlorokids, I realized another big problem. I have very limited access to Japanese manga. My local library has hundreds of titles, but searching manga randomly is very tedious which is why I never do it. Manga is an untapped resource that can turn up hundreds of sleepy scenes.

I created a new page specifically for people to send me a scene alert. Now I did this because I realized people might be shy to email me. Two years ago I was very silent in the sleepy community, so I understand why people might want to remain anonymous. If you know of a comic or TV show that has a sleepy scene just enter all you know into the form and send it. It's very simple and you don't have to worry about your identity being compromised. I figured this was worth a shot and it wouldn't hurt to try it.

If I think the alert is genuine, I will use my resources to locate and post the scene. Don't worry if it's a rare obscure comic; I have been able to find some of the most obscure stuff imaginable on the internet. If I can't locate the scene I'll add it to the "Still Searching" database and open it up to the public.

I have good news: the new scene alert system I added is working. It's working better than I expected too. Just today I recieved 7 or 8 alerts. I even managed to locate a new chloroform scene thanks to an alerter (I'm looking at you chlorodon!). It's from Action Planet #3; check it out in the database. I hope this convinces people to send more alerts.

Chlorokid keeps boasting about his collection of sleepy manga scans (what does he have now, 170?). I have barely seen any of his collection. I dug through his site and found like two new scenes, plus like 20 pictures lifted from my website. I posted chlorokid's finds in my "unknown" database. I saw him post a little snippet of LoZ's original art. That's exclusive content man, you better not post the whole thing. It's really hard to communicate with chlorokid so I just sort of ignore it. I like to think that he is just showing sleepy content to the Japanese community. Plus if he posts my shit I'll be justified in posting his shit on my site.

I'll admit, I lift pictures off other sites all the time. Just today I found a doujinshi chloro scene on Grimbor's DID site, a scene I had overlooked. I decided to post it here because sleepy fans who are not into DID might miss that scene. Usually I'll try to obtain better scans than the ones posted on other sites. For example, Grimbor's site was where I found the Hana Yori Dango chloro scene. Today I located much more clearer and complete scans of that scene.

I was alerted today of a website called anime-eden.com where you can literally download full episodes and full volumes of manga. That's where I got the Hana Yori Dango manga scans. It's incredible what you can find on the internet. I'm curious: just how the fuck does the comic/manga industry survive these days?

2006

Dec 31, 2006 06:41 PM | 0
Man this year went by fast. 2006 was one of the most dynamic, life changing years for me. 2006 was the year when I first revealed to someone my deep fascination. I will always remember 2006 as the year I created "Sleepy Comics". This website really dominated my life for the latter half the year.

I often think about why I started Sleepy Comics. Back in the day, I used to enjoy frequenting sleepy sites such as Ethernet, the Land of Nod and Project X. Inevitably, those sites either disappeared or stopped updating. For a while, new comic book sleepy material seemed to cease. Around March 2006 I started finding my own sleepy content. It was so exciting to find about 30 scenes on my first day of searching! I thought I would never find anymore scenes, that this is the limit of what I was capable of. Boy was I wrong. I went on to find literally hundreds of sleepy scenes, some of which I still hold in high regard. Soon I recognized the need for a comic database.
Prior to "Sleepy Comics", I kept a private journal of my experiences with the sleepy fascination. I have been a blogger since 2003 and I updated my personal blog everyday for over two years. I thought it would be a wonderful idea to combine my database and blog into one big site. That way, I could share my finds and my thoughts to the whole sleepy community.

I originally hosted my site on Tripod. Then one day, Bob from The Chloroforum contacted me and offered me free hosting on his personal server. I am still very grateful for the wonderful service you are providing!

I really wanted my website to be popular. When I launched Sleepy Comics in June, I was afraid I would run out of content to post. I would keep all my finds in a folder and post one or two scenes every few days. I so desperately wanted my visitors to come back. Soon, I was finding scenes faster than I was posting them (hard to believe, but it's true. I'll admit, I had scans over three months old before I released them to the world). Once people started seeing that my updates came very frequently, the popularity surged. Recently, this site has recieved as many as 639 unique visitors, 259 returning visitors and 3324 page views in 24 hours. On average this site gets 450 visitors and 2000 page views a day. I've been making websites since 1999 and this is by far the most successful website I've ever created. In the process I've learned valuable web design skills, such as making page templates and PHP.

Ever since I created this site, I've been receiving contributions from people all over the world. Every day I check my email in anticipation for scene alerts or comic scans. Thanks to everyone who has sent me stuff. I don't know what else to talk about, so I'll just say have a happy New Year. I have a feeling 2007 is going to be very exciting.
