Banned from DeviantArt

Mar 14, 2024 05:21 AM | 4

Ughhhhh...this sucks. Around noon today, I got an email from DeviantArt saying they suspended my account. Violated their policies...something like that. I submitted an appeal and was informed that my situation was ineligible for appeal.
I'm trying to move past it, but I'll be honest...losing that account hurts. I had my entire 15 year art career history on that site. All the posts, comments, faves, notes...gone in an instant.

I get it...I'm on their platform and I abide by their rules. But I had invested years of time and energy into building that page, even recently celebrating 9000 watchers. My trust is completely shattered.

This event has forced me to revisit my old site...this one, sleepycomics.com. I've updated the art gallery to release my public pieces.

I also have a Pixiv,Twitter, and Patreon account. My fanfictions are on AO3. I'm on Discord under the username sleepycomics. My email is red at sleepycomics.com. Hopefully I'm okay elsewhere (but you never know...)
Please reach out! I'm very nice.

I'm taking some time to grieve, but I shouldn't be going anywhere. I have too many sleepy peril art ideas to draw. Thanks a lot everyone for your support over the years!

Artwork!

Dec 24, 2020 08:14 PM | 3
First off, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone visiting my page today! I think it's been a difficult year for many of us, given the global pandemic. 2021 feels like it could be the start of a return to normalcy. Until then, stay safe everyone!

For me, 2020 has been an incredibly productive year for my original artwork. I launched my Patreon page in 2018 and it's still going strong. This month I released nine pieces of sleepy peril artwork! It's become clear that my sleepy peril artwork is a central part of my online identity. It's what I spend the majority of my time on these days.

So it struck me as odd that visiting Sleepycomics.com doesn't feature my latest artwork anywhere. This website was primarily focused on its original mission to catalog sleepy peril scenes in mainstream comics and manga. I still care about that mission, though it's becoming less of a priority compared to original art. I can inject so much more creativity into my original art endeavor.

Starting today I will be featuring previews of my latest artwork on the front page of Sleepycomics.com. These previews will be added as I continue to post to Patreon. It's a much more efficient system that creating those Patreon flyer images. My new art gallery will also let you download full resolution versions of all publicly released pieces. The goal of this is to increase awareness of the vast library of artwork I'm producing, and to get people excited about subscribing to my Patreon page.

As a special offer to anyone reading this, if you visit my gallery and see an unreleased preview you like, you can send me an email at [email protected] and I'll forward you the full image. Please only one request per person, and don't leak the full image. I'll be relying on the honor system here.

2020 Update

Jun 30, 2020 05:48 AM | 1
Hey Sleepy Fans! I think it's been a whole two years since my last blog post here? Man a lot has changed. For one...who would have thought a global pandemic would ravage the world? If you live in the United States (like I do), then you must also be frustrated by the continued lockdowns. The upside for me at least, is that I have so much more free time to work on my projects.

So first, I must plug my Patreon Page. It's still going strong, and I'm on a huge productivity streak right now. See the preview card below for examples of my exclusive artwork:

It would be totally awesome if I could get some more support on Patreon. It's way better than asking for donations directly. With Patreon, you get to support my work while getting some really cool sleepy artwork in return.

Next, I want to plug my site Sleepy Clips. It's a video clip database of mostly chloroform scenes, that has grown to over 1,000 clips already. It's mostly sourced from forums and YouTube. The main benefit of that site, is that I control (and pay!) for the video hosting, so there's lower risk of them getting pulled down. That's where Patreon comes in again, because video hosting costs $$$.

Finally, the classic...Sleepycomics.com. I really have to thank users ProjectX, TheSirtrancelot, Zer0, hquan1 for helping upload scenes (I'm probably forgetting a few users, sorry...). While comic book sleepy scenes was my original gateway, I've begun spending more and more time with digital artwork (Patreon!) and Sleepy Clips. Still...there are some really awesome scenes coming out that have impressed me greatly. I mean, we got a Catwoman sleeping gas scene and an Etta Candy chloroform scene! I can't wait to see what else 2020 has in store.

Thanks for reading and stay safe everyone!

Patreon September 2018 Update

Aug 21, 2018 03:06 AM | 3

My Patreon page has been up for about two months, and I'm seeing a good response. So far, 24 fans have signed up! I'm producing original artwork just for these Patrons, which you can see in the preview image above.

Patreon is my way of connecting better with fans of my work. I'm taking requests from Patrons, and turning them into artwork. Seeing more activity on Patreon will motivate me more to produce more art and update Sleepycomics.com.

Sleepycomics.com has been a central part of my life for the last 12 years. I've spent countless months developing the site, cataloging scenes and producing original artwork. I recognize that I share a common bond with the thousands of sleepy fans who visit this site. At one point in our lives, we all thought we were the only person in the world who had this fetish. We are a small group of people, who will likely remain anonymous forever online. I continue running this site because I want people to know they are not alone.

Thanks for your support!

It's Official: I am on Patreon!

Aug 08, 2018 06:12 AM | 2

Fans who have been following my artwork on deviantArt can now show their support through Patreon. Patreon is a platform that lets you contribute a monthly amount to a creator. In return, the creator gives you access to exclusive content.

For sleepycomics.com, this can be a better revenue stream, as opposed to the old donation page. Supporting sleepycomics on Patreon gives you exclusive access to my artwork, which has been a hit on deviantArt. You'll also get sneak peeks, variants and special drawings. I'm starting things off with tiers set at $2 and $5. If you aren't sure what this Patreon thing is about, e-mail me at [email protected], and I'll answer any questions you have.

Sleepycomics.com is now in its 11th year of continuous operation. During this time, I've given much to the community and asked for little. Believe me: if this Patreon works out, you will see MORE content from me!

Thanks for your support!

Fundraising for Sleepycomics

Jan 21, 2018 05:06 AM | 2
Happy New Year!

Sleepycomics.com continues to grow thanks to some generous users who help find and upload scenes. It's always a nice surprise to see my inbox with new scenes waiting to be approved! Shout out to Xenaphon and ProjectX for posting most of the scenes recently.

This website has been running for over 11 years now. Many websites of this nature never make it that long, but I've vowed to keep this site running for as long as I can. Websites like this do cost money to run, however. If you enjoy using this site, consider donating! You'll feel good, and if you donate $5.00 or more I'll gift you a digital drawing I made:

In 2018, I hope to see lots of new content added to this site, and I also plan on drawing a lot more art.

Thanks in advance!

Uploading Scenes Just Got Easier

Sep 17, 2017 05:08 PM | 6
One of the biggest problems with Sleepycomics.com in the past, was the scene uploading system. Because I was on shared hosting with Dreamhost, I couldn't really go overboard and allow unlimited photo uploads. I had to make users upload images to free photo sites like Photobucket and Imageshack. This was a pain, and a huge barrier to letting people easily upload scenes. Free photo sites also impose their own rules on images, and the images frequently get taken down. Photobucket even stopped allowing hot linking unless you pay them.

Well as of today this is no longer the case. I've successfully moved my code and images to a new web server where I have a lot more control. I changed the scene upload system so you can drag and drop image files, and they will automatically upload to the server. It's fast and easy to use!.

I also further separated a scene's images from its other download links. So there is a separate section for adding links to YouTube, deviantArt or other pages.

I've been pretty excited about these new changes, so you will see lots of updates to the site in the next few weeks!

Sleepycomics.com Just Got a Makeover

Sep 10, 2017 01:45 PM | 0
Sleepycomics.com just got a much needed design overhaul. I got inspired these last few days and really put in a ton of programming effort to improve the UX of this website. This overhaul should address some long standing issues, such as mobile usability. My hope is that the improvements will get people using the site more.

Sign ups are open again!. You no longer have to e-mail me for creating an account. This removes a huge barrier. I also added reset password functionality, which should be available on any website.

The Sleepycomics.com mobile experience is much improved!. I scrapped the entire CSS codebase and started over from scratch. I downloaded CSS Bootstrap V4 and rebuilt the site's layout. The website is now a lot more responsive on mobile.
I also improved the scene image viewer for mobile devices.

This will continue to be a work in progress for the next couple of days, and then things should stabilize. You may notice small changes.

Get Involved

The best way to help out is to get involved with the site more.

  • Add comments, favorite scenes and rate scenes.

  • Submit or Tweet any new scenes you find.

  • If you find bugs, or want a feature, let me know!

  • Send a small donation to show your appreciation!

Thanks a lot and I hope you enjoy the updated site!

September 2017 Update

Sep 04, 2017 03:37 PM | 0
Since my last blog post, I've posted 12 new pieces of art on my deviantArt page. Hope you guys have been enjoying them! It's always a fun hobby to do on the side.

I managed to get my Chloroforum account locked by accident, and since then I've been unable to get back to that site. The admins there don't seem to care about responding to e-mails. You don't really need an account to use Sleepycomics.com, which is kind of nice. I do wish there was some more user activity like back in the day. I do like to hear from people, via e-mail, deviantArt and Twitter.

I am going to have to find a new way to let users submit scenes. Photobucket has turned to crap lately. I don't know if Imageshack still works. With sites like Readcomiconline.to, it's so easy to search comics for scenes. If you guys find anything cool, send me a link on Twitter.

ProjectX has continued making his comic book KO packs, and I've been able to stay up to date because some kind users on the Chloroforum send them to me. As a service to the community, I'm archiving all the ProjectX KO comics packs on Amazon S3. You can download them on this page.

Amazon S3 and Dreamhost still cost some money. I just renewed my hosting and they have been good so far! A small donation to help fund the site is always appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Finding Sleepy Scenes in 2017

Jan 26, 2017 12:27 AM | 2
First off, I want to wish all my visitors a Happy New Year! Welcome to 2017.

I've been running this website for 11 years now (started around 2006). I took a break from updating Sleepycomics.com because other things took precedence. New relationships, new jobs, new hobbies. I got really into drawing art and continue posting a piece here and there on deviantArt.

I've been pretty active on Twitter, and you can follow me @sleepycomics. I have about 300 followers, though most of them are probably bots. I post lots of cool sleepy content on Twitter, and I do it mainly because it's more accessible and modern. We live in a social media age after all.

There's other people now searching comics and manga for content. There's @IeonScans who posts tons of manga content on Western Civilization Forum. Project X is posting comic book finds on the Chloroforum. And yes, there's still me. I check sites like Comic Book Resources and Read Comic Online for scenes. Kissmanga.com is for manga scans. Tons of stuff there, no time to go through it all.

ReadComicOnline.to is amazing by the way. I've used it to go back and check older scenes. Often there's additional content to be found. Of course you can use it to check current comics too. Obviously, it's in a legal grey area, but it's what we have now. A lot of the old Comic CBR file sites are down now.
Go ahead and use this as a resource to find comic scenes. If you find anything good, send me a tweet or email me! I will respond.

I must admit, one of the reasons I stopped updating Sleepycomics.com was due to laziness. It was tedious having to upload images to Photobucket and then manually copy the links into a form. I built a program a few days ago that would make it easier for me to upload images now. It bypasses that Photobucket system, so the images go straight to my server. Much better now, especially since Photobucket compressed images to 1024 pixels.

A lot of you may have forgotten your password to this site or want to open an account. For any of those, just email me and I'll take care of it. I got rid of the sign up form because there was too much spam.
